Waiting for the graphics card king: RTX 5090 is delayed!
New rumors about the Geforce RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 indicate imminent market launches at CES 2025.

Waiting for the graphics card king: RTX 5090 is delayed!
Hardware enthusiasts and gamers will have to continue to be patient because the hotly anticipated Nvidia RTX 50 series graphics cards are still a long time coming. According to information from Wccftech Nvidia will primarily introduce the GeForce RTX 5080 before the RTX 5090 hits store shelves. The premiere of the new Blackwell cards will take place at CES 2025, where a total of four models will be presented. The RTX 5080 with 16 GiB GDDR7 is the first to be expected and should be available at retail as early as mid-January 2025. The RTX 5090 will then follow between the end of January and mid-February, but with 32 GiB GDDR7. What's notable this time is that the 80 Class goes on sale before the 90 Class, which is different from previous releases.
Technical details of the new graphics cards
Latest reports claim that the RTX 5080 will feature ultra-fast 30Gbps GDDR7 memory, allowing for an impressive 960GB/s of memory bandwidth. In contrast, the rest of the Blackwell series, including the RTX 5090, is expected to be offered with slower 28Gbps modules, like Tom's Hardware reported. This could give the RTX 5080 a performance advantage, while the storage capacities of the small models in the series, which will be presented in the first quarter of 2025, are set at 12 GiB and 16 GiB.
The information about the RTX 5080 and its competition highlights that Nvidia is a leader in graphics memory technology. Samsung's latest GDDR7 modules promise speeds of up to 42.5 Gbps for future cards. So while the RTX 5080 represents a quick upgrade, it remains to be seen how users react to the launch of the new line, especially given the anticipation and speculation leading up to CES.
