Christmas tree campaign: Youth fire brigade gangelt collects trees for the environment!

On January 6, 2025 at 10:18 p.m., the volunteer fire brigade reported on an upcoming campaign by the youth fire brigade in the community. On January 11, 2025, the members of the youth fire brigade will collect Christmas trees for free in the entire municipal area. Citizens are encouraged to put their decorated Christmas trees on the roadside until 9:00 a.m. It is pointed out that the trees are not allowed to hinder road traffic and cannot roll onto the street.

The collected Christmas trees are recycled and recycled by a disposal company. To collect the trees, the youth fire brigade receives a small compensation from the Gangelt community, which serves to finance their youth work. This campaign complements the existing concern of fire protection in the municipality and the formation of young talent for the operational department.

Review of the Christmas tree campaign 2023

As early as January 11, 2023, the members of the youth fire brigade carried out a similar Christmas tree campaign. On this occasion, around 1,800 Christmas trees were collected within about three hours. More than 100 members of the Gangelt fire brigade, including the operations department as well as the age and honorary department, supported the campaign with private tractors and supporters. Youth fire brigade officer Bernhard Horrichs gave a thank you in the fire brigade house of the fire-fighting house Stahe-Niederbusch.

The campaign not only served the environmentally friendly recycling of the Christmas trees, but also the training of the young fire brigade. The trees collected were also recycled by a disposal company, and the youth fire brigade had received a small compensation to finance their activities. Around 50 children and adolescents between the ages of 10 and 18 are members of the youth fire brigade and regularly take part in two weekly exercise services and numerous additional programs.
