Stomper 98 rocks Cologne: An unforgettable Oi punk concert!
Stomper 98 recently gave a rousing concert in Cologne that was like a fireworks display of emotions. The band, which plays an important role in the Oi punk scene, stopped off at Building 9 on their four-day mini-tour. The anticipation for this evening was great, especially since their last concert at SO36 in Berlin was unforgettable. This time the new songs from the current album were supposed to conquer the stage, and expectations were exceeded.
The likeable habitual drinkers from Freiburg kicked things off with a powerful Oi set that got the crowd going right from the start. The atmosphere was immediate and felt everywhere. After a short break, Stomper 98 really got going: The opener “The Spike in the Ass” set the tone and caused immediate enthusiasm in the audience. Classics like “Antisocial” and “Nobody said it would be easy” made the front rows shake. But not only the music, but also the atmosphere was electrifying. Pogo dances and beer showers were just some of the signs of the good mood.
The highlights of the evening
Another highlight was the new song “Alex – Shadow of the Night”. The band's performance not only showed their musical range, but also their professionalism. From start to finish, Stomper 98 provided a thrilling show, with every song presented at the highest level. The vocal harmony was particularly outstanding, with different voices being perfectly coordinated. The depth and clarity of the music was so impressive that it exceeded expectations.
With the song “We keep holding the flags high” the band really came into their own musically and emotionally. The fans were thrilled and confirmed that Stomper 98 are among the best representatives of Oi punk music. When the entire Building 9 sang along to the chorus, it was a goosebump-inducing moment that will certainly be remembered by everyone present for a long time.
A particularly poignant moment came later in the concert. Sebi, the frontman, spoke about a fan who was helped through a difficult time by the song “Better Times.” The spontaneous introduction of this song was rewarded with loud applause and a lot of emotion from the audience. The authenticity and respect that the band showed their fans was a sign of appreciation and ensured a close connection between stage and audience.
The set went from start to finish without breaks, and the band wasn't distracted by calls for an encore. With songs like “Boots, Beer and Bomber Jackets” and the brilliant finale “Now especially!” the concert ended on a high note. The energy in the hall was overwhelming, and even after almost 90 minutes of action, the audience was still hungry for more.
Overall, Stomper 98 proved once again that they are one of the best live bands in the country. The sound was clear and powerful, the band's energy infectious. The anticipation for future performances and festivals is increasing as it is hoped that this impressive performance is not the last of its kind. Anyone who loves the band should keep their eyes open and look forward to even more brilliant Oi-Punk, because Stomper 98 are definitely at their best!
