Ski altitude: 64-year-old falls in Tyrol-rescue with helicopter!

In a dramatic incident during a multi -day ski tour in Tyrol, a group from Germany experienced a serious accident on Saturday, March 15, 2025. The 64-year-old participant fell over a stone on the departure and overturned several times, which led to injuries to an indefinite degree. The group, which was probably on the home straight for the Lattejochauen, had previously been traveling for four days to get from Stubaital to Pettneu on the Arlberg.

The accident occurred in an area without mobile phone reception at 3:20 p.m., which further tightened the situation. Since the mountain guide could not make an emergency call, he went to the nearest village, flipping to get help. There he immediately alerted the rescue workers. The emergency helicopter was quickly activated and the injured man flown directly to the Zams hospital. In the meantime, the other three group members remained at the scene of the accident and were later brought to St. Anton am Arlberg with a police helicopter to ensure that they are well cared for, as was reported.

Fast reaction of the rescue workers

The rapid action of the emergency services and the willingness of the mountain guide to master the difficult situation may prevent worse. This incident illustrates the risks associated with ski tours in alpine terrain, especially in regions where the mobile phone reception is restricted. For the people concerned, Saturday was anything but a relaxed day on the slopes.
