Referee David Coote banned for two years: drugs and insults!
English referee David Coote, who became known for his insulting comments about former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp, is now facing a serious career downturn. He has been banned from all refereeing activities by UEFA until June 30, 2026, the European football authority announced. Coote had already been sacked by the refereeing organization in England last December after a video was released in which he made derogatory comments about Klopp Krone.at reported.
But Coote's problems don't stop there. A further investigation was launched after a clip emerged showing him consuming cocaine in a UEFA hotel during the Euro 2024 football tournament in Germany. UEFA said that Coote had breached the basic rules of decent behavior, resulting in him bringing not only football but UEFA itself into disrepute. Loud ESPN Coote noted that he had rarely taken drugs in his life, but also acknowledged that he had made “poor decisions in a personal context.” One of his challenges was repressed homosexuality, which Coote discussed in an interview.
