Radebeul is fighting for cultural line 4: Planning transport companies change!

Dresden.A storm of indignation brews itself over Radebeul! The city has to say goodbye to its beloved cultural line 4, and this causes massive unrest. "We can only appeal to the Dresden Verkehrsbetriebe (DVB) not to implement their plans. I am particularly annoyed that nobody spoke to us about it. I see a decisive factor," complains Mayor Bert Wendsche (independent). The connection between the large district town and the Dresden center is on the brink, and the Radebeulers feel over the same!

From 2026, line 4 will no longer drive from Weinböhla to Laubegast, but will be redirected to Prohlis! The DVB justify this radical step with delays in the renovation of Königsbrücker Straße. "The renovation is not progressing as we hoped for it," explains DVB board member Andreas Hemmersbach. The new tram wagons are ready, but the infrastructure in Dresden is not yet equipped for the wider vehicles. A nightmare for the commuters who rely on the usual connection!

"The new lines are absurd!"

Wendsche is stunned by the new route, which is supposed to lead via Postplatz, main train station, Strehlen and Prohlis. "We Radebeuler want to be connected to the Dresden city center with the 4. If you want to go to the main train station or to Strehlis and Prohlis, you can travel much faster with the S-Bahn," he explains. Hemmersbach tries to smooth the waves by indicating the transfer options at Postplatz, but the Radebeuler are dissatisfied. Line 4, which was used daily by 37,600 passengers before the renovation work, is the longest tram line in Dresden at 29 kilometers. A loss that the city cannot simply accept!
