On October 31, 2024, at 5:06 p.m., there was a dramatic rear-end collision on the BAB 48 in front of the Koblenz Nord junction! A 29-year-old driver from the Koblenz region set about mastering the route at excessive speed in his sports coupe. But that wasn't a race, it was a dangerous traffic jam that had spread into the exit strip to the B9. The result? Chaos and injuries!
The over-motivated driver noticed the end of the traffic jam far too late and attempted a hasty evasive maneuver to the right - with disastrous consequences! In his attempt to avoid another car, a Subaru from the Cochem area, a violent collision occurred. But that wasn't all: his coupe then rammed a small car that was driving on the connection to the B 9 in stop-and-go mode. The occupants of this car, all from Saarland, were seriously injured. There is also a child among those affected. The injured were immediately taken to nearby hospitals and received medical care there.

In addition to a quick response from the Montabaur motorway police, two ambulances and an emergency doctor were on site, supported by six members of the Koblenz professional fire department. This serious accident created a backlog of around 6 kilometers long - drivers were literally slowed down. And that's not all: the material damage is estimated at a mid-five-figure amount! Further proof that highway safety measures are essential!
