Revolution in Physiotherapy: Blankover Ordinance for shoulder treatments!
A revolutionary change in physiotherapy started on November 1st! From now on, physiotherapists in Germany may accept blanks for treatments in the shoulder joint. This groundbreaking innovation, which was made possible by a contract between the GKV top association and the physiotherapy associations, promises individual and more flexible therapy for patients.
What exactly does that mean? Oliver Brinkmann, an experienced physiotherapist from Höxter, explains: "For the first time, we can provide physiotherapy diagnoses and develop tailor -made therapy plans." Instead of determining the number of therapy units, they only issue a basic diagnosis. The physiotherapists now decide on the type, frequency and duration of the treatment - and for up to 16 weeks! This freedom should not only relieve the doctors, but also improve the quality of treatment by individual adaptation to the needs of the patients.
Flexibility and responsibility
However, therapy planning is regulated by a traffic light model that monitors the number of treatments. As long as everything stays in the "green area", the health insurance companies cover the costs completely. If the limited limits are exceeded, the coverage of costs drops to 91 percent. At the end of 2025, the project will be evaluated in order to extend the blanks order to other diagnostic groups if necessary.
The new regulation also brings with it a higher responsibility for the physiotherapists. Frank Kleibrink from Brakel emphasizes: "We are trained to make physiotherapy diagnoses and carry out functional analyzes." However, this responsibility could also result in higher costs for professional liability insurance and increase the bureaucratic effort in the practices. Oliver Brinkmann relies on technical support to optimize the documentation of the treatments and to ensure legal protection.
