The construction industry in Germany is faced with enormous challenges: real estate prices are rising due to rising interest rates and material costs, while the shortage of skilled workers is further exacerbating the situation. Housing construction is particularly hard hit, where there is a lack of affordable living space. In this critical phase, HABAU Germany is setting an example with its focus on climate-neutral and cost-efficient construction.
Sustainability is more than just a buzzword for HABAU Germany; it is a central part of their corporate philosophy. The company plans holistic solutions in residential, industrial and commercial construction. “We pursue the goal of offering everything from a single source,” explains Hauke Lattmann, Managing Director of HABAU Germany. This offer includes everything, from planning to the turnkey handover of the building.
Innovative approaches to sustainable construction
The market demands change. HABAU Germany is reacting to the increased demands on sustainable construction methods and investing in modern technologies. In 2019, a research and development center was set up that researches new, resource-saving products in collaboration with important universities such as the Bauhaus University Weimar and the TU Dresden. The focus is particularly on the development and testing of textile-reinforced prefabricated concrete parts and innovative construction methods such as concrete 3D printing.
With over 110 years of experience in the industry, HABAU also aims to diversify construction methods while ensuring high load-bearing capacity. In residential construction, modular construction is consistently used. This means that the building technology, windows and sun protection are integrated in the factory before assembly, which significantly speeds up the entire process and makes it more cost-effective.
The company is currently busy with several projects, including in the area of green facades and the prefabrication of building materials that are intended to minimize the ecological footprint. The targeted savings of up to 60 percent in energy and resources are essential to the goal of making industrial construction climate-neutral.
Participation in large-scale projects
HABAU Germany is not only known for its innovative approaches, but also for its partnerships with important companies such as Deutsche Post/DHL, Porsche and VW. The large number of projects, including important construction projects at airports such as Cologne/Bonn and Berlin-Brandenburg, underlines the company's position as one of the leading players in the construction industry.
The HABAU GROUP, to which the company belongs, includes a total of 15 group companies, all of which rely on many years of expertise and collaboration on an equal footing. With over 6,500 employees, the group generates annual sales of around 1.92 billion euros and is active in 13 countries.
Looking ahead, it remains to be seen what innovations HABAU Germany will present as part of its research projects. With currently 31 projects in areas such as industry and logistics, the company shows that future-proof and sustainable construction is no longer a utopia.
