Rescue operation for cow Flocke: fire brigade and Bundeswehr in action!
On April 15, 2025, an attentive citizen discovered a cow near the Unstrut cycle path near Etzleben, Kyffhäuserkreis, a cow that had sunk in the river Lossa. He immediately informed the Kyffhäuser police inspection, which could then find the animal owner. The police's emergency services first took a look at the situation and calmed the cow to prevent further sinking into the water.
First rescue attempts, however, were unsuccessful, which is why other rescue workers were mobilized. This included not only the fire brigade and the police, but also the animal owner and soldiers of the Bundeswehr from Bad Frankenhausen. Together they designed a plan to save the sunken cow, which is called "Flocke".
rescue measures and successful salvage
In order to free the cow from its predicament, special animal rescue straps were laid around them. A Bundeswehr telescopic loader was finally used to raise Flocke out of the river. With the successful use of the technology, the emergency services managed to put the cow intact on solid ground. Everyone involved was extremely satisfied with the cooperative approach.
After the rescue, the firefighters cleaned the muddy fur of the cow before being handed over to the holder. However, it remains unclear how Flocke could leave the pasture, which is a puzzle for many of those involved.
animal rescue in Germany
Such operations are not the rule in Germany, but they always take place. Some professional fire brigades have trained staff and specially equipped vehicles for animal use, although comprehensive animal rescue units in fire departments are still rare. The Feuerwehrmagazin.de states that animal rescue organizations often act in close cooperation with the police, fire brigade and emergency services, even if they are not identical to animal welfare associations.
There are already animal rescue units in many regions, but not everywhere. The organizations are actively looking for new members to create further groups and stations. Many of the emergency services are often side entrants from the fire brigade, and sponsoring members are also welcome. However, it is important to note that there is no state support for animal rescue organizations.
The animal rescue Essen e.V., which is active around the clock, is particularly noteworthy and performs over 300 missions every year, such as the Fireworld.at reported. This organization was already in use with various floods, where it saved a total of around 1,600 animals.
In summary, the success of the rescue of Flocke not only reflects the cooperation of many actors, but also the commitment that can be found in animal rescue in Germany. These special missions not only require a well -organized plan, but also the heart and devotion of everyone involved who are committed to the well -being of the animals.
