Trial against threatening letter senders: Death causes horror in Wels

On March 5, 2025, the eagerly awaited trial will begin at the Wels regional court against a 61-year-old German who is accused of having driven the Seewalchen doctor Lisa-Maria Kellermayr to suicide through massive threats. The defendant, who already has a criminal record in Germany, must answer for dangerous threats. He threatened Kellermayr in four emails and three messages via platform X (formerly Twitter) between February and July 2022. He announced that he would bring them before a “people’s tribunal” and send them “to the dock and then safely to prison.” If the allegations are confirmed, he could face up to ten years in prison MyDistrict reported.

It is particularly tragic that the doctor who advocated vaccinations during the corona pandemic closed her practice in the summer of 2022 as a result of the threats and ongoing hostility. The threats she received over months led to enormous psychological pressure, which ultimately led to her suicide at the end of July 2022. A forensic psychiatric report shows that the defendant's threats were a contributing factor in her death, as they led to psychological instability and deep fear. The first days of the trial are scheduled for March 5th and 6th, with a verdict expected on March 20th crown reported.
