Cuts in North Rhine-Westphalia: Social services in Krefeld are on the verge of extinction!

Things are boiling in North Rhine-Westphalia! The state government plans to make massive cuts of 83 million euros in the social sector. At first glance, this may seem like a drop in the ocean in a state budget of 105 billion euros. But the reality is different! "These cuts will have dramatic consequences for the social infrastructure and people - including in Krefeld. We don't want to accept that," warns Delk Bagusat, spokesman for the Working Group of Welfare Associations in Krefeld.

Last Wednesday, numerous representatives of welfare associations, including Awo, German Red Cross, Paritätische, Diakonie, Jewish Community and Caritas Association, gathered in front of the state parliament. At the urgent rally “NRW stays social!” They protested against the planned cuts together with board members, department heads and employees. The message was clear: social services must not be left behind!

A cry of solidarity

The protesters are calling for a rethink and warning of the devastating consequences that these cuts could have for aid services and people in need. The voices of the welfare associations are unmistakable: the social security of citizens is at stake! At a time when many are dependent on support, resistance to these plans is a strong sign of solidarity and cohesion in society.
