C-Juniors of 1. FC Kleve celebrate their first win of the season in their home game!
An exciting day for the C-Juniors of 1. FC Kleve! They finally got their first win of the season in the Lower Rhine Football League with an impressive 3:1 (2:0) against the DJK Adler Union Frintrop. In a thrilling home game, the Klever talents gave up the red lantern and improved to second-to-last place. Samiyan Erkis gave the team the lead in the 11th minute, followed by Bert Giesen, who increased the lead to 2-0 in the 18th minute. After the half-time break, the guests from Essen reduced the lead to 2-1 (46th), but Theo Boßmann restored the old gap in the 52nd minute and secured the deserved victory.
“The victory was well deserved because we were the superior team,” cheered FC coach Umut Akpinar. He is proud of his protégés, who are now in top shape despite suboptimal preparation due to vacation. There are two more important games before the winter break: First it's against 1. FC Bocholt, followed by a home game against DJK Arminia Klosterhardt. Akpinar has clear goals: “We are of course aiming for the maximum points in these games.”
SV Straelen is fighting for points
SV Straelen, on the other hand, had to be content with a disappointing 2:2 (1:0) against SG Essen-Schönebeck and slipped to sixth place in the table. "It's really annoying that we only took one point from Essen. We can be satisfied with our performance," said coach Jeremie Dohrmann. The Straelen team took the lead early on with an indirect free kick, but the hosts turned the game around after the break. A long-range shot brought the SG to 2-1 (62'), but in the final minutes Fabian Otschik scored the celebrated equalizer (70'). “Overall, we played a really good away game,” summarized Dohrmann, who is now looking ahead to the next home game against SpVg Schonnebeck.
