Fährstraße in Hamm: Construction site ends on time for the autumn holidays!

In Hamm, the residents are faced with a positive change that has been expected for months. The city has announced the joyful news that Fährstraße will be opened again for traffic at the end of the autumn holidays. This communication is recorded optimistically by many, especially in view of the lengthy construction work that has been carried out on the strongly frequented road since the beginning of July.

The construction work that had started with an estimate of four months aims to improve the traffic conditions on this important thoroughfare. According to a city spokesman, the last work is underway, whereby a hand has to be created in particular at the traffic light system. The paving work has not yet been completed, but a soon -to -be is sought. However, the final time for the reopening can only be determined after a smooth progress of this work.

Innovations for traffic safety

An important element of the upcoming changes is the introduction of a new left -hand turn, which will enable a direct journey to the Clinic for Manual Therapy in Hamm in the future. This is supplemented by a pedestrian lamp, which is also installed on Fährstraße near the old ferry house. These innovations are intended to make both motorized traffic facilitate and increase safety for pedestrians.

In addition, measures to improve road surfaces have also been carried out in recent months. The asphalt cover layer in two smaller segments north of the Datteln-Hamm Canal received renewal. These sections extend from the northern bridge wider bearing of the Lippe to the access to the boathouse, as well as on the western lane towards the canal. It is expected that this work will contribute to improving driving conditions and reducing disorders in traffic.

The city administration considered the construction work to be necessary in order to adapt the infrastructure in the region to the needs of residents and road users. In view of the upcoming reopening at the end of the autumn holidays, it is to be hoped that the work will be completed according to the plan and that Hamm citizens will soon be able to enjoy an unrestricted use of Fährstrasse.
