A dramatic traffic accident in the university district of Hagen shook the streets on Wednesday afternoon, November 6th, 2024. At 4:30 p.m. there was a violent collision between five vehicles, in which two people were slightly injured. A 61-year-old woman who was driving her VW wanted to turn left at the intersection with Bredelle, but overlooked the BMW of a 26-year-old driver who was coming towards her. How could this happen?
The accident sequence
The consequences of the impact were devastating: After the VW collided with the BMW, the vehicle spun and then crashed into a Skoda that was waiting in a traffic jam in the left lane. The force of the impact pushed the unfortunate Skoda into a Mercedes, which in turn crashed into a Renault. Of the five cars involved, the BMW was no longer drivable after the incident and had to be towed away.
The two injured people, the driver of the VW and the driver of the BMW, did not have to go to hospital, but they were shocked. While the accident was being recorded, the police closed the intersection area in order to further investigate the exact cause of the accident. What could have been the cause of this terrible incident? The traffic commissioner's investigation has begun.
