Last weekend, numerous burglaries and a car theft were recorded in several cities in North Rhine-Westphalia. The police in Bottrop, Recklinghausen, Gladbeck, Marl, Castrop-Rauxel, Dorsten and Herten are active and are asking for the public's help to identify the perpetrators and prevent further crimes.
In Bottrop, two unknown perpetrators broke into an apartment on the second floor of an apartment building on Essener Strasse between 1:30 p.m. and 1:40 p.m. on Friday, October 18th. The women ransacked the bedroom but fled without stealing anything. A witness description may help: The two are estimated to be 20 to 25 years old, slim, tall and had blonde hair and light-colored clothing.
Further incidents in Gladbeck, Marl and Castrop-Rauxel
In Gladbeck, a break-in occurred in a single-family home on “Gonheide” street between October 12th and 20th. The perpetrators climbed in via a canopy and forced open a window, although the extent of the damage is currently unknown.
On Sperberweg in Marl, unknown burglars broke into a youth facility between October 16th and 18th. They forced open the front door and stole various microphones before escaping through a kitchen window. Furthermore, a single-family home in Marl was attacked between October 19th and 20th. Here too, the perpetrators used force to expose a window, although no details about the loot are yet known.
In Castrop-Rauxel, unknown people sneaked into a single-family home on Westerholtstrasse by opening a tilt window further. Their stolen goods included jewellery, watches and shoes and the burglary took place between October 19th and 20th. At the same time, there was also a break-in at a youth center on Pöppinghauser Straße, where cash and technical gaming equipment were stolen.
Theft of a vehicle in Herten
In Herten, a black Toyota RAV4 was stolen on the Nordring between October 18th and October 19th. At this point there is no evidence of the perpetrators, which makes the investigation more difficult.
Police have asked the public to be vigilant and encourage anyone to immediately inform authorities if they see anything suspicious. The more eyes are on the neighborhood, the higher the likelihood that further break-ins can be successfully prevented.
