Kassel's Christmas tree Ludwig Emil finally on the Königsplatz!
Königsplatz, Kassel, Deutschland - The Christmas magic in Kassel has finally started! After a bumpy start and a failed first transport attempt, the impressive XXL Christmas tree, lovingly called "Ludwig Emil", is now proud of the royal splash. With a special permit and a nightly campaign, the 16 -meter high Douglasia from Borken was successfully brought to its place - and that with three days late!
In the late Tuesday evening, the time had come: the tree, which causes a sensation with its 6.30 meters width, was brought to the royal royal with a heavy transport and four accompanying vehicles. He stood upright around 1:30 a.m., and Oliver Braun from Kassel Marketing GmbH cheered: "Everything went well now and we are very happy about it." Originally, "Ludwig Emil" was supposed to arrive in the city center on Saturday, but its exceeded branches made transport a real challenge.
a tree with history
The story of "Ludwig Emil" is as fascinating as its appearance. The tree, which grew over 33 in the Fabireck family's garden, was shortened to the maximum height of 16 meters to make it transportable. But the broad branches caused delays, so the tree had to stay in Borken for a few more days. Named after Ludwig Emil Grimm, the less well -known brother of the famous storyteller, the tree is traditionally provided with a fairytale name in order to fit the Kassel Märchenachtmarkt.
Now that "Ludwig Emil" is finally in place, he is waiting to become the main attraction of the Christmas market from November 25th. In the coming days, the tree will be festively decorated and ready for its big appearance. Kassel can look forward to a spectacular Christmas!
