Fire Brigade Bochum: Fast extinguishing rate for fire in an empty factory

In the afternoon of March 5, 2025, the Bochum fire brigade, together with the volunteer fire brigade, was called for a fire in an empty industrial building on Gollheide in Westenfeld. The alarming reports from callers about violent smoke development meant that the emergency services were sent to the use at 4:10 p.m. Firefighters were able to determine a visible flame license and strong smoke from several windows of the building when they arrived. Fortunately, there were no injuries, since there were no people in the building, as was reported by Lokalkompass.de

The fire brigade acted efficiently and immediately used a group under respiratory protection that entered the fire room via a ladder. Thanks to its quick response, the fire could be brought under control after 10 minutes before it could spread further. A total of around 30 emergency services were involved, including the professional fire brigade and voluntary fire departments from Heide and Eppendorf-Höntrop. For the necessary water supply, a hose line was laid over the tram tracks, which led to an interruption of rail traffic for about 30 minutes. Also in the deployment in the evening hours, the fire brigade was deleted in another part of the building in a similar fire, described in parallel to this incident, when the fire brigade was alerted at 7:00 p.m.

cause of fire still unclear
