Bloody attack in Oberhausen: youth gang sentenced to maximum sentences!

Oberhausen, North Rhine-Westphalia – A shocking crime shakes the city! In February, the two Ukrainian youth basketball national players Volodymyr Yermakov (17) and Artem Kozachenko (18) were brutally attacked by a youth gang at the Oberhausen bus station. The attack was unprecedentedly cruel: the perpetrators surrounded their victims, beat them and stabbed them with a knife. Both war refugees ultimately succumbed to their serious injuries.

The youth chamber of the Essen regional court has now passed harsh sentences - a clear signal against such brutal acts! The German-Turkish Mert V. and his German-Greek accomplice, both just 15 years old, received the maximum sentence under youth law: ten years behind bars. Two other co-defendants, Syrian teenagers aged 14 at the time of the crime, must be in prison for eight years and six months. The court showed no mercy because the evidence was overwhelming.

Treacherous attack in Oberhausen

An unimaginable deviousness: The young perpetrators decided to attack their defenseless victims during the bus ride. Without warning, without reason – just reasonless and sneaky! What was particularly shocking was that Mert V., known for previous acts of violence, kept the murder knife, a dangerous 15 cm blade, hidden behind his back when he got out. The unsuspecting basketball players had no chance.

The rampant violence left the city stunned. After the crime, the perpetrators fled, while other, younger children under the age of 14, also involved in the incident, were not brought to justice due to their criminal responsibility. At the trial, Artem Kozachenko's parents stood in the courtroom with tears in their eyes. They traveled from Ukraine specifically to fight for justice. The judges emphasized the heinousness of this act and explained that the defendants acted in the knowledge that they did not have to kill anyone for any reason.
