Kilian Ludewig starts new football captain at Petrolul Ploiesti!
A new step in Kilian Ludewig's career: The 24-year-old former DFB junior has signed a contract with Romanian first division club Petrolul Ploiesti. The right-back, who will stay until summer 2026, is moving after six months without a club after his contract with FC Red Bull Salzburg was terminated in July 2024. During his time in Salzburg he was only used sporadically, only played two games in the first team and made 28 appearances for the second team, FC Liefering. He has previously been loaned out to other teams, including Schalke 04 and 1860 Munich, like laola1.at reported.
At Petrolul Ploiesti, Ludewig will also meet an old friend: Adrian Mutu, who has been working as head coach since December last year. The club has signed Ludewig as a reinforcement for Liga 1 in Romania, where he wants to demonstrate his skills. In his career, Ludewig also celebrated great successes with RB Leipzig and RB Salzburg, including the Austrian championship and the cup. According to the information from gsp.ro was his last official appearance on May 18, 2024, when he was on the pitch for 10 minutes against Arminia Bielefeld in the 3rd league.
With six appearances in the Bundesliga for Schalke 04 in the 2020/2021 season, which ended with the club's relegation, and 17 appearances in the German U-national teams, Ludewig has already gained valuable experience. The player, who also played with several international clubs in England, the Netherlands and Denmark, will now look to regain his footing in Romania and get regular playing time.
