Greifswald/Ahlbeck.An exciting duel at the stove: Felix Kroos, the talented footballer and podcaster from Greifswald, and the Usedom restaurateur André Domke compete against the Hamburg TV chef Steffen Henssler. Henssler has challenged the nation, and the first episode of “Germany grills the Henssler” will air on Vox on Sunday, November 10th. The show can already be seen in advance on RTL plus. In this episode, the federal states of Bremen, Saarland, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Hamburg have to put their cooking skills to the test.
Kroos is excited about the competition, but admits to presenter Laura Wontorra that he is still unsure about cooking. "I'm at the right place when it comes to competition. I don't know about cooking yet. But we'll find out." Domke, a professional in fish cuisine, will contribute his knowledge of the traditional Usedom fish solyanka. Henssler, on the other hand, seems overwhelmed: “What is that?” he asks, confused. The two have to prepare a cod dish in just 28 minutes that will impress the jury.
Ahlbecker raves about his grandmother: “The best cook”
André Domke reveals to Laura his recipe with a secret ingredient: smoked paprika. He remembers his grandmother, who inspired him to cook. “My grandmother was the best cook there ever was.” Kroos, who describes himself as less talented at the stove, sends greetings to his wife, who enjoys cooking. “I heard my fried egg is very good.” The jury, consisting of Heike Müller from the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Rural Women's Association, Christian Rach and Jana Ina Zarella, will evaluate the creations.
In the first episode, Steffen Henssler collected 7 points while Team Germany only scored 3 points. But Kroos and Domke convinced the jurors with their soup and secured the prize money of 4,000 euros, which they wanted to donate to the Lighthouse Children's and Youth Hospice Support Association. The next episode of “Germany grills the Henssler” will air on November 17th at 8:15 p.m. on Vox.
