TSV Burgdorf U23 starts the new year successfully with a strong win!
The U23 of TSV Burgdorf started 2025 with an away win. The team won its first game against HSG Schaumburg on January 12, 2025 with 39:33 (19:14) in the Waltringhausen sports hall. Coach Pedro Alvarez had previously expressed concerns as the team only completed four training sessions after a four-week break.
The game started with an early timeout after HSG's top goalscorer, Daniel Bruns, received a double time penalty after 21 minutes. TSV Burgdorf took advantage of the majority and extended their lead to 17:12 in the 25th minute. Paul Heldermann made it 19:14 shortly before the half-time whistle. In the second half, Niklas Gautzsch continued the positive development by scoring the first three goals after the break and increasing the gap to 22:15.
Strong individual performances
Niklas Gautzsch was the top scorer for TSV with a total of 11 goals, followed by Leonard Zink, who scored 10 goals from 11 shots. Bela Wellmann contributed 6 goals to the victory. Nils Waterstrat, who was in goal, saved 3 seven-meter shots and a few free throws and scored a goal himself to make it 16:12. Coach Alvarez praised the good form and spirit of his players as well as the support of the fans in the packed hall.
TSV Burgdorf's next game will take place on January 18th at 8 p.m. against MTV Vorsfelde. Further information about the previous appearance as well as the assessments of coach Pedro Alvarez and the team can be found on the club's website, especially given the last defeat against Fredenbeck, which the team analyzed thoroughly.
