Lower Saxony: Strict punishments for cannabis violations - up to 15,000 euros!

In Lower Saxony, there are strict punishments for cannabis violations! A sensational design of the cannabis fine catalog provides for fines of up to 15,000 euros. The Ministry of Health proposes to determine fines for various offenses that make you take notice. For example, anyone who is near minors must expect fines between 20 and 1,000 euros. In schools and their visibility, smoking smoke could even cost up to 500 euros - and children's playgrounds are also not safe!

But that's not all! Leaf money from 150 to 15,000 euros is threatened for cannabis advertising or sponsorship. Even if these numbers are not final and are currently under discussion, the draft clearly shows that the Lower Saxony state government is serious. The Minister of Health, Andreas Philippi, underlines: "New freedoms in cannabis have to go hand in hand with clear rules." The municipalities have to prepare for cannabis controls in their hands, which doesn't suit them. Some cities propose to commission the police for the controls to avoid overloading the municipal officials.

Uniformity instead of chaos

With the aim of uniform handling, the state government wants to tackle the cannabis controls pragmatically and without much fuss. Philippi emphasizes that such violations should be treated in a similar way to parking or throwing cigarettes on the sidewalk. Clear announcements from a politician of the SPD! He promised an evaluation of the effort in order to keep the burden on the municipalities as low as possible. "We will evaluate how much effort that actually makes in everyday life," he explains, thus signaling the will to flexibility.

The draft, which is available to the "Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung", is currently being examined by municipal umbrella organizations. But the message is clear: If you break the laws, you have to expect consequences - and to a considerable extent! The discussion about the new regulations will still heat up! »
