Hannover 96 takes second place with a 3-0 win in Magdeburg!
On Sunday, October 27, 2024, Hannover 96 put in an impressive performance and clinched their first away win of the season at 1. FC Magdeburg. With a clear 3-0 (2-0), the Lower Saxony team took second place in the 2nd Bundesliga and left the competition behind. Double goalscorer Andreas Voglsammer became the celebrated hero of the game when he made things clear in the first half.
Hannover started the game with a shocking moment when Magdeburg's Mathisen shot just wide of the goal in the 6th minute. But the “Reds” didn’t let that deter them and took the lead in the 13th minute. Voglsammer headed Leopold's corner into the net and put his team on the road to victory. Ten minutes later he was there again, benefiting from a mistake by the FCM keeper and converting to make it 2-0. Hannover was therefore in the fast lane, and both the strong team performance and the solid defensive work were crucial to their success.
Dominance and control
The Lower Saxony team dominated the second half, controlled the game and didn't give Magdeburg any real chances. Only a dangerous shot from a distance in the 57th minute caused some excitement, but was defused by Hannover goalkeeper Zieler. In the 75th minute, Nielsen finally decided the game with a clever goal. After a mistake in the hosts' defense, the Norwegian was there and completed the attack to make it 3-0, with the ball rolling into the bottom left corner. With this win, Hannover 96 improved to second place in the table, just one point behind league leaders Düsseldorf.
The next big duel is already imminent when Karlsruher SC is welcomed into the home arena next Saturday. Hannover 96 have made it clear that they are on the right track to seriously pursue promotion to the first division.
