NATO increases cooperation against sabotage: Red alarm level for infrastructure!

NATO raises the alarm! The western military alliance is planning a massive increase in its measures against the growing threat from Russian and Chinese sabotage files. In the past few months, critical infrastructure has been damaged in several NATO countries, and suspicions are increasing. NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte announced that the cooperation in the field of secret services will be intensified in order to counteract these threats.

At a meeting of NATO Foreign Minister in Brussels, Rutte expressed his concern about the recent incidents, including the damage to a data cable that connects Sweden and Finland. "For years, Russia and China have been trying to destabilize our nations with sabotage files, cyber attacks and disinformation," he said. The NATO countries have to stand together to counter these threats with a variety of measures, including better intelligence cooperation and protection of critical infrastructure.

Suspicious cable breaks

The investigation into the damaged cable is already in full swing. In Sweden and Finland, who have joined NATO since the Russian attack on Ukraine in February 2022, it is examined how the cable has been cut at two places. The Swedish civil protection minister Carl-Oskar Bohlin expressed suspicion of sabotage, but without naming a possible perpetrator. Finnish authorities, on the other hand, do not report any evidence of a crime, but emphasize the seriousness of the situation.

The recent incidents are followed by the damage to two Subsse cables on the bottom of the Baltic Sea last month, which also took place in Swedish waters. These incidents have let the alarm bells ring, and the governments of Finland, Sweden and Germany have initiated investigations. The British cybersecurity boss warned that Russia and China are increasingly using technologies to cause maximum disorders and destruction. NATO is determined to oppose these aggressive tactics!
