Memmingen celebrates: New social psychiatric center opened!

A new shine for mental health: Last Friday, the Social Psychiatric Center (SPZ) in Memmingen was opened with a magnificent ceremony! After three years of intensive construction work, the new, barrier -free rooms that offer people with mental illnesses an improved quality of life shine. Over 60 guests, including the prominent deputy president of the Swabian district, Petra Beer, and Mayor Jan Rothenbacher, celebrated this milestone with the Allgäu Diakonie.

In the heart of the SPZ "In the Kappel", state -of -the -art building parts are now integrated, which house the social psychiatric service as well as the excessive assistance services and the day care center. The new rooms were upgraded by generous means of the lucky spiral, which will significantly improve the atmosphere. "The day care center can now be reached barrier -free," says Roland Schaller, Head of Social Psychiatry at Diakonie Allgäu, with evident pride. "In addition, it is very lucky that the excessive assistance is finally on site again."

Solemn inauguration and creative challenges

The inauguration ceremony was a complete success! While those present applauded the new premises, Dr. Raimund Steber, the medical director of the Memmingen district hospital, a captivating speech about the importance of participation and cooperation. Dean Christoph Schieder and diaconal pastor Katharina von Kietzell blessed the new rooms and thus made the symbolic restart perfect.

The construction work had its pitfalls: the renovations took place during the current operation, which was an immense organizational challenge for the employees. But the effort was worth it! "We look forward to the positive feedback from our visitors - the SPZ is now not only functional, but also a nice place for everyone," summarizes Schaller. With the new range of age -appropriate services and a cooperation project for job coaching, this center becomes a decisive hub for mental health care in the region.
