Drama in Günzach! At noon from October 31, 2024, a devastating fire broke out in a warehouse in Aitranger Straße. The flames blazed up when a worker discovered the catastrophe, but all attempts to extinguish were already in vain. The entire building was wrapped in flames within a very short time when the fire brigade arrived. Fortunately, a quick intervention prevented the spread to neighboring buildings, but the damage was already enormous.
Massive fire brigade campaign
Around 180 fire and rescue workers were used to fight the flames and bring the situation under control. Despite its efforts, the building and content were completely destroyed. The estimated property damage amounts to around 550,000 euros. Fortunately, there were no injuries to complain about what is a ray of hope in such a scenario.
The initial investigation into the cause of the fire was initiated by the Kaufbeuren police inspection and the Memmingen (KDD) criminal service. The Kaufbeuren criminal police station now takes over the further investigations. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, but it is believed that it was created in the course of welding work. The investigation of the incident is very priority to avoid such tragedies in the future.
