Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Schwesig criticizes: No DAX company is based in the East
Schwerin, a place of memories and challenges! The state parliament recently celebrated the 35th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, an event that honored the courage of the people of the GDR. But Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig (SPD) uses this opportunity to point out the ongoing injustices in eastern Germany. “We must not accept the disadvantages!” she shouts in a passionate debate. People's concerns are real: job losses, insecurities and constant devaluation characterize the lives of many East Germans.
Schwesig makes it clear that the economic situation in the East is alarming. “To this day, no DAX company has its headquarters in the East!” she emphasizes and criticizes the lower wages that exist despite higher work performance. It's a clear message: the time to wait is over! The Prime Minister sees the urgent task as being to advance the economy and provide good jobs. The freedom won in 1989 is not a gift, but an obligation that must be defended.
A legacy that needs to be preserved
Amid the current crises and discontent in the eastern German states, Schwesig shows understanding for people's fears. “We stand on the shoulders of those who courageously demonstrated in 1989,” she says, recalling the legacy of the peaceful revolution. This legacy is not only an asset, but also an obligation to protect democracy and the achievements of the past. The Prime Minister calls on everyone to work together for a better future and to tackle the challenges that still lie ahead.
