Macho Man 3: Nuremberg cult film celebrates its premiere with drama and action!

After years of hard work and countless hurdles, the time has finally come: “Macho Man 3” will premiere at the Nuremberg Cinecitta. The third part of the popular low-budget film series, which originated in 1985, is bursting with action and unintentional humor. In this series, which began in Nuremberg and has won many fans, the latest film is also expected to delight viewers. Year after year, the cult film enjoys a loyal following who don't miss the screenings in Nuremberg's Katharinenruine.

The “Macho Man 3” project was indeed an immense challenge, not only due to the low budget of just 40,000 euros, but also because of the difficulties brought about by the Corona pandemic. Director Davide Grisolia, a long-time fan of the series, made this dream come true amid rat races and challenges.

The challenges of production

Peter Althof, who is known for his famous clients such as Michael Jackson and Pamela Anderson, once again demonstrated his physical abilities in this film project and performed many of the stunts himself. With a tight budget, it took a lot of creativity and improvisation to make the film's 191 minutes. Althof explained: “I’m almost 70, but I did most of the stunts myself!”

Filming is taking longer due to unforeseen breaks in filming and stricter contact restrictions, which could put additional strain on the finances of the projects. Despite these adversities, Althof and the entire crew remained strong and worked more or less voluntarily to complete the film, which not only contains action scenes but also delves into an exciting storyline that reflects the underworld.

A tribute to those who died

Despite the joy of completing the film, which represents an unexpected journey through time, a bittersweet truth overshadows the premiere. During the long production period, a total of five participants died, including the main actor, ex-professional boxer René Weller, and the Franconian comedian Roman Sörgel, known as Bembers. These losses made the opportunity to celebrate a very emotional experience for the entire crew: “The film has therefore involuntarily become a contemporary document,” says director Grisolia.

The premiere will take place on October 18, 2024 at the Nuremberg Cinecitta. Here, cinema lovers will have the opportunity to appreciate the creative work and revive the nostalgic memories of the previous films. The red carpet will be rolled out from 5:30 p.m. and many prominent guests, including fashion designer Harald Glööckler and singer Nino de Angelo, are expected. The film will initially be shown here, but is also planned for future screenings in cinemas nationwide.

It remains to be seen whether the film elements of the first parts will be taken up again. What is certain, however, is that this premiere will be a celebration of a film that not only features action, but also expressly remembers those who died in the film series.
