Leipzig Book Fair: Visitor record and exciting events on Saturday!

The Leipzig Book Fair is enthusiastic this year with an impressive number of visitors. On Saturday, the most visitor day, long snakes formed before admission, while waiting times were also recorded on the previous days. Felix Wisotzki, spokesman for the fair, reported on the enormous rush on Saturday and noticed a change in visitor behavior: Many guests came to opening at 10:00 a.m. on time, which led to traffic jams at the admission. With around 96,000 visitors on the first two days - around 8,000 more than at half -time in the previous year - the fair enjoyed far -reaching popularity. It is still open until Sunday.

Norway as a host country

This year Norway functions as a host country of the Leipzig Book Fair under the motto "Dream in Spring". The opening of the Norwegian host country stand took place on the first day of the fair in the presence of the Norwegian Cultural and Equal Opportunities Minister Lubna Jaffery as well as the authors Maja Lunde and Karl Ove Knausgård. Almost 50 other Norwegian authors take part in over 80 events in Leipzig, which strengthens the connection to the Nordic literature.
