Former nurses from the Altmühlfranken Clinic met for a class reunion to exchange memories and experience changes.
Nursing class reunion: 50 years of health!
A very special class reunion took place in mid-October at the Altmühlfranken Clinic! Former nursing staff from the years 1981 to 1984 and 1971 to 1974 came together to reminisce and marvel at the impressive changes to their former workplace. The idea for this meeting arose spontaneously between Roswitha Herrmann, a long-time employee, and her colleague Christa Seibert. Together they decided to accept the invitation from the clinic's board member Christoph Schneiderwin and organize an unforgettable event.
The group of 25 was warmly welcomed by department manager Anja Fischer and other hospital employees. The journey through the history of nursing began with a glass of champagne. Anja Fischer presented the two clinic locations in Gunzenhausen and Weißenburg and left the former nursing staff amazed at the extensive structural changes that have taken place in recent years. While those born in 1971 experienced the new building of the hospital on Reutberg up close, some colleagues born in 1981 reported on the general renovation, which was completed in 2021.
A look into the past
During a tour of the modernized clinic, the new single and double rooms as well as the attractive common rooms were admired. The areas of endoscopy and cardiac catheterization particularly attracted the interest of the former nurses. While those born in 1971 remained loyal to nursing until their retirement, some of their colleagues in 1981 dared to take the step into other professional fields. But no matter which path they took, the joy of seeing each other again was overwhelming!
The atmosphere was relaxed and numerous anecdotes from old times were exchanged during the tour. Over coffee and cake and dinner together, the former colleagues were able to continue chatting and reflect on their experiences. “Many thanks to the clinic management for their hospitality – it’s great that we were able to hold our meeting again at the place where we work after so many years,” said Roswitha Herrmann on behalf of the group, expressing the enthusiasm of everyone present.
