In a thrilling duel in the 2nd Bundesliga, 1. FC Kaiserslautern missed the chance for their third win in a row and only managed a 2-2 draw against 1. FC Magdeburg. Despite the majority, after Magdeburg had to play with one man less from the 36th minute onwards, FCK remained in tenth place in the middle of the table with 16 points. The Magdeburgers, who are in seventh place with 17 points, showed fighting spirit and didn't let themselves be defeated.
In front of 45,104 enthusiastic fans in the Fritz Walter Stadium, things got straight to the point: The guests from Magdeburg got off to a brilliant start and quickly led 2-0 thanks to goals from Samuel Loric (11th) and former Lauterer Philipp Hercher (13th). FCK had to rally after this shock and Boris Tomiak converted a penalty in the 36th minute to keep their hopes of a point alive. Ragnar Ache equalized in the 68th minute and kept the FCK fans alive.
FCK fights, Magdeburg defends heroically
Although the Lauterers played in the majority after Falko Michel's yellow-red card, they were rarely able to seriously threaten the Magdeburg defense. The goalkeeper Dominik Reimann showed himself to be the support of his team and saved several dangerous shots. Magdeburg fought until the last second, even after Martijn Kaars was sent off in stoppage time, and secured an important point in the battle for the top places.
