Colorful festival of diversity: Fulda celebrates queer community with joy!

The diversity festival took place last Saturday in the cultural cellar in Fulda and attracted numerous visitors who experienced a colorful range of activities and offers. Queer people, allies and interested parties came together to celebrate community and exchange in a lively atmosphere. The organizer, the Aidshilfe Fulda, emphasized the importance of such events in order to promote networking within the queer community. Susanne Maul, the managing director of AIDShilfe, explained that many queer people live in Fulda, but often have difficulty meeting like -minded people. With this festival, a place should be created where everyone can celebrate and get to know each other.

The event started at 3 p.m. with a creative handicraft lesson, in which the participants were able to design their own stickers and flags. These activities were not only entertaining, but also served to break the ice cream and promote the exchange between those present. The program also included informative lectures, the presentation of the newly founded initiative "Queer Fulda" and readings by authors who shared their personal experiences. Jochen Kohlert, project manager of the Downtown district meeting, introduced a greeting to those present and presented the organization team, which consisted of various queer groups and the network "Acceptance and Diversity" of the Fulda University of Applied Sciences.

Networking and exchange in focus

Particularly noteworthy is the cooperation between different queer organizations in Fulda, which were merged this year under the motto "Quer Fulda". This collaboration should not only strengthen the visibility of the queer community, but also offer a contact point for everyone interested. At an information stand, visitors were able to find out about the "Queere Diversity" initiative and take part in various hands -on activities, such as a competition or photo wall that invited to interaction.

Autumn was deliberately chosen for the event because the summer months in Fulda are often filled with many other events, which makes it difficult to find a suitable appointment. "Now we can also address and encourage the new students who come to the city and encourage us to stop by," continued Maul. The connection to new students and the creation of an invitation character played a central role in planning the festival.

The evening was also a highlight with the queervibe party in the program, which was organized by the queer hour. The Leo band ensured the background music, so that the younger guests could celebrate into the night. It was a day that was not only characterized by information offers, but also by the constant element of the celebration and coexistence. All age groups, from children to young people, were cordially invited to be part of this colorful festival.

Overall, the fourth festival of diversity could be seen as a complete success. The numerous participants took the opportunity not only to celebrate, but also to exchange ideas on important topics in the queer community and to support each other. The event has thus made an important contribution to strengthening the queer community in Fulda.
