Evangelical Church of Ludwigsburg: celebrated new dimension of the community
The Evangelical parishes Eglosheim, Hoheneck, Neckarweihingen and Oßweil have been part of the Evangelical Church Community of Ludwigsburg since January 1, 2025. On this occasion there was a festival service in the town church on the market square, in which Dean Michael Werner and parish councils and parishioners designed the celebrations.
The parishioners symbolically brought “treasures” with them, which embodied the special features of their respective parishes. Among other things, this included a Playmobilkirche for openness, a fishing network for connection, a puzzle that is for the voluntary stand, and a coffee cup for the community. In addition, a ship represented the cross -generational gathering, the panel of the pastors of the past 600 years symbolized traditions, and a digital chip stood for the departure into the modern age. The sermon held prelatin Gabriele Arnold and focused on the diversity and gifts of people and communities.
music and greetings for the celebration
The musical design took over an united trombone choir and the church choir from Eglosheim, supported by organ music by district cantor Martin Kaleschke. Mayor Matthias Knecht congratulated the church fusion and emphasized the relevance of the churches and volunteers in society. However, he also expressed concerns about the future contacts on site and possible building losses.
A greeting from the Catholic pastor Alois Krist was read out, in which the importance of ecumenical cooperation was emphasized. With the enlargement, the Evangelical total church community now comprises almost the entire Ludwigsburg city area and has around 24,000 parishioners.
The topics of identity policy and cohesion are of central importance in the Evangelical Church. As the Evangelical Church explains in Germany, promoting the common sense is an essential challenge in today's society while maintaining diversity and freedom. These aspects are supported by services, religious and confirmation classes as well as the commitment to justice and peace, which promotes social interaction, as ekd.de
