ESC 2025: Austria's outsider JJ with Wasted Love in the semi -finals!
The Eurovision Song Contest 2025 started on May 13 with the first semi -finals in Basel, Switzerland, where a total of 43 countries fight for entry to the final. The 69th Eurovision Song Contest will take place from May 13th to 17th, 2024. Switzerland, as a host country, is automatically qualified for the final. In addition to Switzerland, the “Big Five” (Germany, Great Britain, France, Italy and Spain) also take part, while 31 nations have to qualify in two semi -final rounds. The second round takes place on May 15, where exciting contributions are expected again.
The first semi -finals were opened by Iceland, followed by numerous contributions from different countries. Norway, Sweden and Ukraine are among the ten qualified participants for the final, while Belgium, Slovenia and Azerbaijan missed the qualification. The German duo Abor and Tynna, which has a appearance with her song "Baller" in the second semi -finals, is particularly remarkable.

The second semi -finals will be opened on May 15 by Australia and Montenegro, followed by a number of other participants, including Austria's JJ with "Wasted Love". Germany appears in the second semi -final between Israel and Serbia. The vote takes place by the viewers and juries of the participating countries as well as the Big Five and Switzerland.

The favorites for the entertaining competition are currently Sweden, Ukraine and Italy, while Austria's contribution is classified as an outsider. Germany has experienced several setbacks at the ESC in recent years and has often occupied the rear places. Nevertheless, one hopes for a better placement with the song from Abor and Tynna. The competition attracts global interest, even if the number of spectators has dropped in recent years, in 2024 there were about 163 million viewers:
