Use heroes in need: ARBÖ and THW 2024 deliver maximum performance!
Laimgrubengasse 10, 1060 Wien, Österreich - The year 2024 was characterized by impressive missions for the ARBÖ and the THW. The approximately 600 ARBÖ breakdown helpers performed an incredible 100,000 missions to quickly help back stumbling vehicles in Austria. Commercial councilor Gerald Kumnig, the general secretary of the ARBÖ, announced that this corresponds to an average of 273 missions per day. Especially in January and in the summer months, the emergency center was strongly challenged, with 9,500 and around 9,000 missions each. In most cases, the technicians were able to help directly on site, which meant valuable time savings for the members. This is particularly emphasized by the low average waiting time of 39 minutes between emergency call and arrival of the helpers, such as ots.at reported.
strong aid for the population
The THW, supported by over 88,000 volunteers, also demonstrated an outstanding effort in 2024. In various floods in Germany, more than 12,000 THW forces performed considerable services, in particular by providing high-performance pumps, which helped the affected areas with over 2.2 billion liters. In addition, 13,500 THW employees were involved in the European Football Championship by operating priority rooms and supporting virtual fire stations. This impressively shows the determination and flexibility of the THW, as thw.de reported.
Both organizations have accomplished outstanding services in their respective tasks, and the combination of their missions makes it clear how important a quick and effective help is in emergency situations. Starting with the breakdown helpers of the ARBÖ up to the committed forces of the THW: The commitment to the community achieved a new dimension in 2024.
