Düsseldorf honors Fruhtrunk's masterpiece: Monument status for iconic facade!
An important event for the art and architectural world: The Düsseldorf district government has given the facade of the legendary Audimax of the former Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences! This striking building, designed by the famous artist Günter Fruhtrunk, is now recognized as a valuable cultural heritage. The first steps for the protection were already initiated in February, and now the process has been completed. The entry in the monument list of the city of Düsseldorf is only a matter of form!
The impressive facade, which was completed in 1969, shows a tile tape with dazzling, diagonally arranged stripes - a masterpiece that embodies Frihtrunk's unmistakable style. Known for the iconic design of the Aldit bag, Fruhtrunk has created a work of art with this wall design that was taken into account far beyond the borders of Düsseldorf. The facade design not only attracted attention, but also conquered the hearts of the art lovers!
The way to monument protection position
The protection of a monument follows a strict, legally regulated procedure. The application is usually made by the "Office for the Preservation of Monuments in the Rhineland", which is located at the Rhineland Landscape Association (LVR). An expert opinion that occupies the cultural and artistic value of the property is created. After a hearing from the owners, the Düsseldorf district government checks the report and carries out its own research. On this basis, a legally sound entry text is created, which contains the justification of the monument value.
After coordination with the LVR specialist office, the owners finally receive the notice of registration, and the monument is officially included in the list of monuments. The facade of the Audimax now has its well -deserved space among the protected monuments of the city of Düsseldorf - a triumph for art and architecture!
