Brother drama in Kindberg: 14-year-old in court for bloody deed!
A shocking case started in Leoben today: A 14-year-old boy from Mürztal is on trial because of the fatal attack on his 36-year-old brother in September last year. According to Krone the brutal deed was committed with a double -sided Viking ax, with the perpetrator exercising at least 20 blows on his brother.
The process is scheduled for one day and takes place in front of a lay judge. Several witnesses and experts from the areas of psychiatry, child and adolescent psychology, as well as forensic medicine are invited to the negotiation. In the event of a conviction, the accused could threaten a prison sentence of up to ten years.
background of the crime
In his first question, the boy said that a dispute over homework escalated, but later he changed his statement. He reported that he felt "terrible commands" during the crime. The claim that the 14-year-old planned the crime in advance is particularly worrying.
The difficult family situation is also a decisive factor. After the death of her father, the brothers were closely connected, which ultimately led to conflicts. In the meantime they lived on the first floor of the house while the mother and her stepfather lived on the ground floor.
prevention of youth offenses
The tragedy of this case again raises questions about violence prevention. The Federal Ministry for Family, Seniors, Women and Youth (BMFSFJ) is committed to strategies for the prevention of child and youth crime. In the past 20 years, the prevention of crime and violence in Germany has developed qualitatively and quantitatively, such as BMFSFJ reported.
The majority of suspects children and adolescents only appear police once, but 5-10% of them repeatedly commit serious crimes. These "intensive offenders" are often affected by complex problems, including social disadvantage, experiences of violence and school problems. The cooperation between child and youth welfare, school, police and judiciary has been reinforced in recent years to implement preventive measures more efficiently.
