The Federal Criminal Police Office already warned of the increasing cyber attacks on authorities in the past, whereby the attacks of so-called botnets, i.e. network of infected computers, have a central role. A spokesman for the Senate said that the online attacks were targeted to overwhelm the administrative infrastructure, which could potentially lead to massive functional disorders.
