Beelitz Magic Lights: Festival of Lights or a visitor magnet?
Beelitz, a city that attracts thousands of visitors every year, is known for its diverse events. The highlights include the Easter market in spring, summer concerts with various stars, a DJ evening in autumn and the magic of lights in winter, which takes place in the city park. The latter is a multi-day event that is perceived positively by many, but also negatively by some. Residents report full streets and full parking spaces during these events. In order to find out citizens' opinions on the events, the MAZ is conducting a survey to collect the population's feedback on how maz-online.de reported.
The magic light itself took place this year from December 20th, 2024 to January 5th, 2025 in the Beelitz city park. The park has been transformed into a sparkling landscape with light and sound installations. The attractions included breathtaking color worlds, fire installations, snow flurries and a star tunnel. Opening hours were 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. daily, with closure on public holidays on December 24 and December 31, 2024. Last entry was at 9:30 p.m. Admission prices vary: in advance sales and at the tourist information office, entry cost €14.95, while the box office was €17. There were discounts for children aged 6 to 17, schoolchildren, students, pensioners and social recipients, such as beelitz.de explained.
Visitor information and rules of conduct
Free parking was available to visitors at Trebbiner Straße 21, and there were public transport connections via the X43 or 643 bus lines to the Beelitz Lustgarten stop. The park is barrier-free and there was free entry for people accompanying people with a disability aged 50 and over. Permitted items include handcarts and strollers, although the latter is not recommended. Pets are not allowed unless they are assistance dogs. It was noted that the adjacent playground is not part of the light magic and remains open to the public. From December 9th, the park was closed for construction, and the gastronomic offer included various winter delicacies such as blueberry mulled wine and baked apple mulled wine.
