New regulations for garage owners in Lübben: What is important now!

With the property tax reform, which comes into force on January 1, 2025, the municipalities are obliged to reorganize the garage property. In the city of Lübben, this affects 1,081 users and owners of garages that were built on urban ground. This regulation can be traced back to the Civil Code (BGB), which does not provide for separate ownership of land and buildings.

The Law Adaptation Act (SchranPG), which has protected the ownership of the garage owners since January 1, 1995, has now expired on December 31, 2022. The previous regulations have been invalid and there are changes in the VAT assessment of parking spaces and garages.

The city administration of Lübben plans to adjust the contract in order to clean up the complex legal situation. This process is accompanied by the responsible specialist committees. In addition, the city of Lübben will continue to inform the garage owners concerned about the further process.
