Train fire in Ahrensfelde: RB25 is running again, but with restrictions!

Drama on the railway line between Werneuchen and Berlin-Ostkreuz! After a devastating train fire in Ahrensfelde on Saturday evening, the trains on the RB25 regional train line have been on the road again since Monday morning, but commuters have to be prepared for restrictions. The stop at Ahrensfelde S-Bahn station is no longer necessary and travelers have to switch to buses that run from the Ahrensfelde Friedhof and Ahrensfelde Nord train stations to Ahrensfelde.

There was deep shock when the train driver noticed smoke and the fire broke out. Fortunately, all five passengers in the three carriages were able to be brought to safety in time. But the consequences are serious: parts of the roof on the track are warped due to the enormous heat, which means that the station cannot be accessed temporarily. The Berlin LKA fire commissioner has now taken over the investigation into the cause of the fire.

Restrictions due to construction work and fire

The RB25, which runs between Berlin-Ostkreuz and Werneuchen, has been struggling with restrictions since mid-October as construction work by Deutsche Bahn is affecting the route. The return to normality is uncertain and travelers must continue to adapt to unforeseen changes. The incident further exacerbated already tense traffic conditions.
