Viennese cleanliness campaign: Ma's net! On the road to success!

Wien, Österreich - On April 14, 2025, the Vienna Department for Waste Management, Road Cleaning and Fleet (MA 48) starts a new cleanliness campaign with the motto "Ma’s net!". This initiative aims to strengthen the sense of responsibility for the cleanliness in Vienna and to draw attention to the urgent garbage problems such as dog droppings, cigarette stubs and illegal bulky waste deposits. The campaign relies on the popularity of magic artists Siegfried & Joy to address a wider target group, especially younger people. With a combination of illusion art and comedy, it is intended to create people in a creative way for the topic of cleanliness, reports Wien.gv.at .

City Councilor Jürgen Czernohorszky emphasizes the importance of the Vienna Reinhalteslet law, which has been in force since 2008. According to this law, the carelessly throw away waste and the unauthorized deposit of bulky waste can be punished with consequences of up to 500 euros. Josef Thon, Head of MA 48, asks the Viennese to make their individual contribution to the cleanliness of the city. The legal framework not only strengthens the clarification of the citizens, but also control by additional waste watchers who are supposed to keep an eye on the cleanliness in the city.

In 2022, 115,449 reports on illegal garbage deposits were registered in the German capital via the "Ordnungsamt Online" app. This was a decrease of ten percent compared to the previous year, possibly more effective disposal services and innovative apps to help citizens to organize trips to recycling yards, which of berlin.de is reported.

The Viennese campaign "Ma’s net can be conjured up!" wants to encourage citizens to take responsibility and actively take care of a clean Vienna. The motto "Not wanting, but the (with) doing-for a clean Vienna" summarizes the call for participation and is intended to raise awareness of community action.
