Tragedy on the A11: Two dead after a serious bus accident in Brandenburg
On Saturday afternoon there was a tragic accident on the A11 motorway in Brandenburg, in which a 29-year-old woman and a 48-year-old man lost her life. The Flixbus coach was on the way from Berlin to Stettin when he opened and tipped over on a guardrail at around 3:30 p.m. At the time of the accident, winter road conditions were with black ice and snowfall, which contributed to the serious incident.
A total of 13 passengers and the driver were on the bus. In the accident, four people were seriously injured and seven others were slightly injured. The rescue measures were carried out by a large contingent of emergency services, which, among other things, set up emergency tents to supply the injured. Some of the slightly injured people were able to leave the hospital.
accident course and reactions
The cause of the accident that experts are currently investigating could be attributed to an unadjusted speed of the driver. It was also reported that a truck stood across the road, which increased the danger to the bus. The bus started at 1:25 p.m. at Berlin Central Station and stopped further passengers at Alexanderplatz 15 minutes later.
Flixbus was affected by the incident and announced that it would work with the authorities to clarify the exact circumstances of the accident. The police secured the Flixbus and asked drivers for special consideration and the formation of a rescue alley. The ADAC also warned of the road.
This tragic accident is reminiscent of a serious bus accident in March, in which four people died on the A9 near Leipzig and 30, which put the risk of weather conditions on the streets again.
