Sensational race: Julia Scheib fights bravely at ÖSV-Pech!
Semmering, Österreich - in Sestriere, Julia Scheib again showed her impressive skills in the giant slalom, while her Austrian teammates stayed behind her. Federica Brignone, the Italian ski racer and current World Cup leader, secured victory and celebrated her 29th World Cup triumph. Scheib, which was in 13th place with a gap of 1.70 seconds at the first round, knew how to convince in the final with a clear running time and improved to sixth place (+1.30 seconds). Despite the moderate visual conditions, she showed a strong performance and was satisfied with her appearance, such as "https://www.laola1.at/de/Red/wintersport/ski-alpin/weltcup-damen/bei-brignone-gala-erneut-gefuehle-bei-bebei-gebei-bei-bei-bei-bebei-gebei-bei-bebei-gebei-bei-bei-bei-bei-bei-bei-bei-bei-bei-bei- target = "_ blank"> laola1.at reported.
ÖSV ladies in the shadow of Italian dominance
Despite Scheibs, the other Austrians disappointed because only two athletes could qualify for the second round. Stephanie Brunner finished 14th (+2.38 seconds) and Katharina Liensberger just 25th place (+4.03 seconds). Brunner, who initially started in the race, criticized her own performance: "The thread is torn in the middle," she reported frustrated. Liensberger also admitted that more risk was necessary. At Semmering, however, she will compete in her preferred slalom on Sunday, where the conditions should improve according to her statement, and the sun should appear, as in another report by ski1.at mentioned.
This weekend, the ÖSV athletes can hope to achieve better results in the slalom discipline and to establish themselves as a serious competition for the Italian ski racer Brignone, who not only plays their dominance in Italy, but also at international level.
