Big family celebration in the new Park Nordbahnhof – Free Mitte in Vienna!
An exciting family celebration is coming: The Vienna City Gardens invite you to a colorful weekend in the new Nordbahnhof – Freie Mitte park on April 5th and 6th, 2025! On these days, visitors can look forward to an extensive program with creative hands-on attractions and informative advice offers from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. This park, the largest that the city gardens have created since 1974 and covering an impressive 93,000 m², offers both recreation and a significant shelter for plants and animals. Jürgen Czernohorszky, the Climate City Councilor, is looking forward to celebrating this special place together with the people of Vienna, which not only promotes climate protection, but also serves as a habitat for many species, such as wien.gv.at reported.
The park is valued not only for its size and design, but also for the exciting recreational opportunities it offers. Children can get active by sowing herbs, enjoy the painting swing and face painting, and design clay pots. Adults, on the other hand, benefit from valuable information about climate protection and tips for their own garden. The design of the natural park integrates old railway tracks and offers protected areas for flora and fauna. The park's special residents include rare bird species such as the red-backed shrike, as well as butterflies and a variety of wild bees, as in wien.gv.at is highlighted.
One of the highlights of the family festival is the new bicycle playground, which offers attractive training areas for both beginners and experienced cyclists. An inclusively designed playground ensures that children of all ages can have fun together. The central area of the park, which is already partially opened, impresses with creative design elements such as wooden walkways and high seats that intensify the experience of nature and offer exciting views. The park thus impressively combines the interests of those seeking relaxation and the protection of our nature and biodiversity.
