Karat celebrates 50 years of Ostrock: anniversary concerts in Brandenburg!

The Eastern rock band Karat will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2025. Under the motto “Karat 50” the band is planning over 50 concerts throughout Germany. A special anniversary concert will take place in Berlin, while the band will also be on tour in Brandenburg. Among other things, concerts will take place in Frankfurt (Oder) on March 8th in the exhibition hall, in Cottbus on March 14th and in Schwedt on March 15th. Tickets are still available for the concert in Frankfurt (Oder), prices are between 64.35 and 75.35 euros.

For the anniversary tour, the band has Daniel Bätge (bass) and Heiko Jung (drums) in their ranks, who have been part of Karat since 2023. A new album entitled “Hohe Himmel” will be released on February 21, 2025, one day before the concert in Berlin. The first single “We” was released in October 2024 and focuses on cohesion. The setlist for the concerts will include new songs as well as classics such as “You have to go over seven bridges”, “The Blue Planet” and “Albatross”.

News about the album

The new album “Hohe Himmel” will be released on February 21, 2025. On the occasion of the band's 50th anniversary, the first Karat concert in Heidenau (Saxony) also marks the 50th anniversary. The new album will be released via A & F Music GbR/Universal Music, and it only contains new songs that were recorded live in the studio.

The album features a dozen new songs that explore personal relationships and emotional vulnerabilities. Martin Becker and Hansi Biebl, who worked together in the 1990s, also contributed to the new album. Werner Karma also contributed three lyrics for the album. The last track on the album is entitled “Der Mensch” and deals with the endangerment of the earth, which closes a thematic circle with an earlier song by Claudius Dreilich's father.

Karat has given around 5,000 concerts in the last 50 years and released a total of 15 studio and 5 live albums. They are the only band from East Germany that gilded records in the Federal Republic of Germany before the fall of the Berlin Wall Moz.de reported. In addition, the new album “Hohe Himmel” will hit stores on February 21, 2025 Pop-Himmel.de announced.
