Wunsiedel is preparing for the Bundestag election: postal voting made easy!

The city of Wunsiedel informs about the upcoming Bundestag election, which takes place on Sunday, February 23, 2025. In preparation for the election, the citizens have the opportunity to apply for postal voting documents if they cannot personally go to the polling station. The application form for postal voting is located on the back of the election notification.

The election notifications will be delivered to all households by Sunday, February 2, 2025 at the latest. From Monday, January 13, 2025, the postal voting documents can also be applied for online via the City Service Portal of the City of Wunsiedel. It is pointed out that the ballot papers will probably only be available from February 10, 2025. The requested postal voting documents can be sent at the earliest from this date. The city recommends applying for the documents at an early stage and personally picking them up in the town hall (room 2 and 3) or submitting them there. Important information on postal voting

For the application for postal voting, an option is required that can be requested from the municipality of the main residence. This can be done personally or in writing. The written application can also be preserved by fax or email. Many municipalities now offer the opportunity to request documents online, while making a telephone application is not possible. On the back of the election notification there is a form for the application, which can also be made before delivery of the election notification.

The following information is required for the application:

  • family name
  • first name
  • date of birth
  • Housing address (street, house number, postcode, location)

If the application is made for another person, a written power of attorney is required. Application for other people is only possible personally or in writing. Voters with disabilities have the right to be helped with the application. The relevant legal bases for postal voting are specified in §§ 27, 28 BWO, as the Federal election manager reports.
