Viennese fire brigade receives Tatra: state -of -the -art vehicle for new challenges!
Wien, Österreich - The requirements for fire departments increase continuously, especially due to changed extinguishing goods and climatic conditions. Events such as the flood in the east of Austria in September 2024 increased the need for efficient use. So that the fire brigade can react quickly in critical situations, the Vienna professional fire brigade is now being equipped with a new, off -road special vehicle from the Czech manufacturer Tatra. This measure aims to improve the responsibility and efficiency of the fire brigade.
The new vehicle is based on a robust central tube frame with a retail wheel suspension, which guarantees high traction and off -road capability. With a standard wading depth of 800 mm, the Tatra Phoenix is specially designed for missions in challenging environments. The drive takes place via an Allison AR4700 automatic transmission with seven gears, spread over four axles, the last axis being both driven and directed. A powerful Paccar MX13 engine with 390 kW (530 hp) and up to 2,500 Nm torque ensures the necessary strength.
flexibility and adaptability
The vehicle is equipped with a changing loader structure from Eberl, which enables flexible use. This means that rolling tanks and ISO-certified containers can be transported, which significantly expands the possible uses, especially for forest fires. The cab has two sleeps and meets the requirements of the firefighters. Special features such as traffic jams and equipment were also realized by the Eberl company in order to take into account the specific needs of the emergency services.
Tschann Nutzfahrzeuge GmbH in Salzburg acts as a general contractor and supplier for this innovative vehicle. With a total of 430 employees at nine locations in Austria and Bavaria, the company has the necessary expertise to support such specialized missions. Dipl.-Ing. Robert Kerschl, sales manager Tatra department, is positive about working with the city of Vienna and the professional fire brigade. This partnership is seen as an important step to counter the increasing risk from climate -related changes.
climate consequences and fire brigade development
The progressive climatic changes significantly influence the development of fire departments. At the 29th German Fire Brigade Day 2020, which took place in Hanover from June 15th to 20th, the lead motif "Security.leben" was discussed. In particular, the future congress dealt with the effects of climate change on fire brigade and the need to develop innovative solutions. Here, the focus was on non-police security such as heat, forest fire and heavy rain, which underlines the relevance of the new Tatra vehicle for the Viennese fire brigade.
The current equipment and training of the firefighters is viewed as a central pillar in order to be prepared as well as possible for the different, sometimes extreme use scenarios. The example of the Vienna professional fire brigade impressively shows how modern technology and adaptability are essential to meet these challenges.
