Solar boom in the southwest: 2024 over 2,120 megawatts reinstalled!

The expansion of solar energy in southwestern Germany gained dynamics in 2024. According to a report by pz-news.de Megawatt new photovoltaic performance installed. This corresponds to an increase of 4.95 percent compared to the previous year. However, in order to supply the economy with cheap electricity, an annual addition of around 4,000 megawatts is required.

In 2023, over 150,000 new solar power plants were installed, with 1,580 megawatts on building systems and almost 540 megawatts on solar parks. This means that the entire installed photovoltaic system in the southwest is now 12.4 gigawatts, which could mathematically supply around 3.7 million households. In order to further promote this development, good framework conditions are necessary by the federal government, state and regional associations.

long -term goals and current developments

The goal of Baden-Württemberg is to reduce greenhouse gas output by 65 percent by 2030 compared to 1990 and to become climate-neutral by 2040, which is five years earlier than the nationwide plan for Germany. In this context, Federal Network Agency Recently published figures on the addition of renewable energies for 2024. The installed performance of renewable energy systems rose by almost 20 gigawatts to almost 190 gigawatts, which corresponds to an increase of 12 percent compared to the previous year.

The expansion of the solar performance in 2024 was 16.2 gigawatts, with two thirds of which were installed on house roofs or on buildings. Bavaria recorded the highest extension with 4.0 gigawatts. This increased the installed overall solar performance in Germany to 99.3 gigawatts at the end of the year. This year, the Federal Network Agency also registered around 435,000 balcony systems that made up 2.6 percent of the total solar training.
